Hungry Planet

© Peter Menzel, Faith d'Aluisio / Cosmos

Muséum des Sciences naturelles

13 July 2018–30 June 2019

Photographer Peter Menzel and his wife Faith d’Aluisio travelled the world looking for answers to the following question: what do people eat?
They shared the daily lives and meals of their hosts in twenty-six countries. By means of a carefully established protocol that included photographing the family with all of the food they consume in a typical week, these images show us the wealth and diversity of culinary traditions all over the world, as well as the excesses and uniformity of eating habits.
The exhibition Hungry Planet presents a selection of twenty-four images from this project and transports visitors to countries as diverse as Bhutan, Mexico, Mali, France, China and the US. Beyond the obvious disparity that exists between all these countries, this work has the merit of leading us to question our diet, as well as the economic and environmental issues relating to it.
